All three of the synoptic gospels speak of Simon of Cyrene, compelled to bear the cross of Jesus. Holy Scripture gives us no reason to suppose that Simon of Cyrene had been a believer in Christ before that day when the Roman soldiers compelled him to assume the weight of the Holy Cross but that was the very beginning of his discipleship. He became the model of those who followed Jesus to the place of crucifixion outside the walls of Jerusalem.<div class="feedflare">

From Pascha to Pentecost, Orthodox Christians greet each other with the words "Christ is Risen! Indeed, He is Risen!" What do those words mean? Dr. Nassif identifies three timeless truths about the Resurrection of Christ: 1. Christ is forever alive 2. Christ conquered death 3. Christ will be the Judge of the living and the dead. Listen to what these three truths mean in the teaching of the New Testament. Next week, he will apply them to our everyday lives.<div class="feedflare">
